New character posters for The Flash offer another look at Michael Keaton’s return as Batman alongside Ezra Miller as the titular speedster and Sasha Calle as Supergirl. Released courtesy of The Flash Film News, theses latest posters provide a detailed look at Keaton’s new cape and cowl, with the actor set to return to the comic book role after more than 30 years. Check out the new posters for The Flash below.
“Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past,” the official synopsis for The Flash reads. “But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
The Flash will find Keaton playing and older, long-retired from service as Gotham City’s protector version of The Dark Knight, who has somehow grown even more hardened than Barry is used to. With a global threat on the horizon, Keaton’s Bruce Wayne must decide whether he can become Batman once more.
The Flash Will Involve More Than One Batman
If bringing back Michael Keaton’s Batman after all these years is not enough for you, fear not, as The Flash will involve more than one man-who-dresses-like-a-bat. The multiversal mayhem will also include Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight, with the Justice League and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice star teasing his (minor) role in proceedings and declaring that he feels he has now nailed playing the iconic character.
“The Justice League experience, the fact that those stories became somewhat repetitive to me and less interesting. Yeah, I did finally figure out how to play that character [Batman], and I nailed it in The Flash,” Affleck said recently. “For the five minutes I’m there, it’s really great. A lot of it’s just tone. You’ve got to figure out, what’s your version of the person? Who is the guy that fits what you can do? I tried to fit myself into a Batman. And by the way, I like a lot of the stuff we did, especially the first one [Batman v Superman].”
Starring Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash, Sasha Calle as Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl, Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne aka Batman, and Michael Shannon as General Zod, as well as Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue, The Flash is now scheduled to have its world premiere at CinemaCon on April 25, 2023.
The Flash is scheduled for theatrical release later this year on June 16, 2023.
