The long-awaited debut of Marvel’s First Family in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is finally here. The first trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has dropped, offering fans an exciting glimpse into the film’s unique vision, thrilling stakes, and a cosmic-level threat that will change the MCU forever.
The cast of Marvel Studios’ The Fantastic Four: First Steps joined a live audience of hundreds of fans gathered at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama on Tuesday to launch the first trailer for the film. Fans from around the world tuned in via a Marvel livestream to catch the big debut in real-time with the Saturn 5 rocket serving as the backdrop, as stars Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach commandeered the countdown. When asked what he hoped fans would think of the trailer Pascal replied, “I just want everybody to love it.” The cast then launched the brand new and long-awaited trailer for the film.
The plot of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been kept tightly under wraps, but we do know that the Fantastic Four will be facing off against none other than Galactus. The planet-devouring entity threatening earth itself. Played by the formidable Ralph Ineson (Nosferatu), Galactus’ presence signals an epic-scale conflict that will push Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Moss-Bachrach) to their absolute limits. Marvel Studios isn’t holding back when it comes to launching The Fantastic Four with a bang. Galactus isn’t alone, either—his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer, Played by Julia Garner is making waves in the MCU as well. With such a cosmic force at play, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s most ambitious films yet.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, this version of New York is a bold creative choice by director Matt Shakman and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, which could explain why The Fantastic Four have been absent from the MCU timeline until now, not including the time Reed Richards (John Krasinski) from Doctor Strange and The Multiverse of Madness and Johnny Storm (Chris Evans) from Deadpool and Wolverine were massacred in their respective alternate universes. The vintage yet futuristic aesthetic sets this film apart from anything Marvel has done before, promising a unique and immersive world that fans can’t wait to explore.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps is more than just a superhero story—it’s a tale of family, legacy, and the struggle to balance heroism with personal bonds. As the team faces the looming cosmic threat of Galactus along with personal struggles, the film is expected to lay the groundwork for their role in the MCU moving forward. With an all-star cast, a stunning visual style, and a narrative that blends cosmic adventure with grounded human drama, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is poised to be a major milestone for the MCU.
