I truly can’t believe we’re getting a second season of The Earliest Show. It’s like a comedy nerd got their hands on a One Wish Willow, but like, you know, they weren’t creepy about it.
Ben Schwartz’s cult Funny or Die web series about an early morning talk show that goes off the rails when one of the hosts gets dumped live on air is the textbook definition of a hidden gem. Currently streaming on YouTube, the six-episode first season starring Schwartz and Lauren Lapkus originally debuted in 2016 and, in a true streaming miracle, a star-studded second season is on the way. Schwartz and Lapkus have unparalleled comedic chemistry, producing some of the funniest improv you’ve ever seen. After you watch all six episodes, which are about 10-13 minutes each, do yourself a favor and stream the hour-long blooper reel. It’s fantastic.
