Dropping a baby on the concrete probably shouldn’t be funny, but in the new Hulu comedy The Drop, which began streaming on Friday, it most definitely is. Pen15′s Anna Konkle stars as a flighty woman who accidentally drops her best friend’s infant baby. Don’t worry, the baby is fine. The group of millennial friends, however—who are all gathered in Mexico to celebrate the marriage of the baby’s mothers, Mia (Aparna Nancherla) and Peggy (Jennifer Lafleur)—is not so fine. Director Sarah Adina Smith assembled a hilarious ensemble cast, including Jermaine Fowler, Gillian Bell, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Robin Thede, and more. It might not quite stick the landing, but the talented cast will make you laugh, and the concept is brilliant enough for me to give this one a thumbs up.
