It’s Christmas for Tinseltown at the Academy Awards, and Hollywood’s biggest names are bringing their fashion A-game.
Oscar night is finally here. A seemingly endless award season has finally given way to Hollywood’s biggest night of the year — and one of the biggest fashion nights for fashion enthusiasts as well. Hollywood’s biggest stars have made fashion statements at the Golden Globes, BAFTA Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards, but they all saved their best looks for tonight.
This year’s slate of nominees is a well-balanced mix of crowd pleasing blockbuster fare and smaller arthouse films. “Everything Everywhere All at Once” led the pack with 11 nominations, and many expect it to win Best Picture, Best Director for Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Michelle Yeoh, and Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Ke Huy Quan.
“The Banshees of Inisherin” and “All Quiet on the Western Front” were close behind with nine nominations a piece, and Baz Luhrmann’s “Elvis” was honored with eight nominations. Austin Butler has emerged as a bona fide superstar this award season, and is widely seen as a favorite to win Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance as Elvis Presley.
And of course, it’s never a good idea to bet against Steven Spielberg. The legendary director made the most personal film of his career with the autobiographical “The Fabelmans,” and earned nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay (which he shared with Tony Kushner). Michelle Williams and Judd Hirsch both earned nominations for their performances in the film, and Spielberg’s longtime composer John Williams became the oldest competitive Oscar nominee ever when he picked up a Best Original Score nod at the age of 90.
With all of that excitement — not to mention formidable competition from the likes of “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Avatar: The Way of Water,” “TÁR,” and “Women Talking — it’s bound to be an Oscars for the ages when Jimmy Kimmel takes the stage at the Dolby Theatre tonight. So it’s hardly surprising that everyone is bringing their fashion A-game. Keep reading to see all of our favorite looks from the red carpet of the 95th Academy Awards.
