The Batman – Part II is closer than ever to finally happening.
As Robert Pattinson will be back as the Dark Knight in The Batman – Part II, Matt Reeves revealed on X a first look at the film’s current test for the Batmobile, with the caption, “#SnowTires 🦇.” Check it out below:
After a user asked if the images were “testing for The Batman 2,” Reeves confirmed in a follow-up response, “Sure is!” as it’s indeed for his sequel. When a different user shared an image of the Caped Crusader from the comics in snowy weather, saying “It’s time,” Reeves replied with a heart emoji.
Many have been theorizing that The Batman – Part II story will introduce Mister Freeze into Reeves’ Elseworlds franchise. With The Penguin TV show having ended during winter, the 2027 sequel is going to pick up shortly after the conclusion of the HBO drama.
At the time of this story’s publication, no one has been formally cast as Victor Fries in The Batman – Part II. However, it’s key to take into account that they have also not officially announced who the actual main foe will be in the sequel, which leaves the door open for Mister Freeze to potentially show up in the installment.
The Batman – Part II cast will feature several new actors, including two long-time Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans. Scarlett Johansson has been tapped for a massive mystery role, while Sebastian Stan has boarded Reeves’ DC entry as Harvey Dent.
There have been rumors that Johansson is potentially playing Gilda Dent, who is Harvey’s wife in the comics. But DC Studios and Warner Bros. Discovery have not confirmed or denied whether that is her actual role in the film.
Game of Thrones’ Charles Dance was the latest cast member to join The Batman – Part II, as he is expected to be playing Harvey’s father, Christopher Dent. Similar to Johansson, his actual role hasn’t been fully revealed yet.
After being introduced in The Batman universe back in 2022, Colin Farrell and Barry Keoghan are reprising their roles as Penguin and Joker, respectively. While Andy Serkis and Jeffrey Wright are coming back as Alfred Pennyworth and James Gordon, Zoë Kravitz’s Catwoman is reportedly not part of the sequel.
Principal photography is set to start in June, which means more details are bound to emerge over the coming weeks. That could also potentially mean additional information on casting and the actual story, as plot points have been kept heavily under wraps.
The Batman – Part II will be one of the two major DC Studios releases in 2027, as James Gunn’s Man of Tomorrow is arriving on July 9, featuring David Corenswet back as Superman. The DC Universe installment has already started shooting, as filming is underway in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Batman – Part II is scheduled to open in theaters on October 1, 2027.
