Disney brought the goods to their 2026 D23 presentation. A first look at The New Simpsons Movie, footage for Star Wars: Starfighter, and announcements for films like Incredibles 3, Coco 2, Zootopia 3, Princess Diaries 3, Tangled, and a Kingdom Hearts television series were just a few of the many announcements. As expected, though, the big headline maker was Marvel Studios.
Despite revealing Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider and David Jonsson as Black Panther at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios saved plenty of goodies for D23. Now that the world knows Spider-Man: Brand New Day featured the first hints at the MCU’s X-Men, Marvel Studios finally discussed their upcoming reboot, which landed one star who has turned them down multiple times, as well as one of the leads of the biggest movies of 2026. From the first trailer for an upcoming Disney+ series and a new look at Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, here are the biggest reveals from Marvel’s D23 panel.
‘VisionQuest’ Trailer
Marvel Studios kicked off their presentation at D23 with the reveal of the VisionQuest trailer. The first footage for the series premiered nearly a year ago at New York Comic-Con, but this is the first time it has been made public. The series reveals it will largely be set inside Vision’s subconscious, with him living in a home with human avatars of Tony Stark’s various other A.I.s, including J.A.R.V.I.S (James D’Arcy), E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire), F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Bradley), D.U.M.-E. (Henry Lewis), U. (Jonathan Sayer), and of course, Ultron (James Spader).
The trailer also showcased Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff, the reincarnated soul of Vision and Wanda’s super-speedster son in WandaVision. VisionQuest is the end of a trilogy that began with WandaVision in Phase 4, Agatha All Along in Phase 5, and now concluding in Phase 6. VisionQuest debuts on Oct. 14, 2026.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Sneak Peek
Just ahead of the big D23 panel, Disney put more tickets for Avengers: Doomsday up, along with a new poster. At the presentation, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell took to the stage. Attendees got to see the sneak peek showcased at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks earlier. Disney then released the footage online, which hints at Doctor Doom’s tragic origin, various hero team-ups, and the epic trailer shot of Doctor Doom controlling an army of Sentinels. Now that Spider-Man: Brand New Day has had a good three weeks at the box office, Marvel Studios is going all in on Avengers: Doomsday.
Wolverine and Deadpool Seemingly in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool crashed the Marvel Studios Comic-Con panel, so it only makes sense for his 2024 co-star Hugh Jackman to do the same for D23. During the Avengers: Doomsday panel, a video of Hugh Jackman played (with Reynolds whispering to him off-camera) in which Jackman asked if Kevin Feige put his name in to join the cast of Avengers: Doomsday. Jackman said:
“Just wondering if you might need some help rounding out the cast? I’d love to join. And I don’t know, I might be able to convince Ryan to appear in Avengers: Doomsday.“
While it’s a fun bit, it also seems like a way to tease both Wolverine and Deadpool in Avengers: Doomsday. Neither actor is officially confirmed, and this could be a long-running marketing tactic until the film’s release. Yet it seems like a safe bet that Wolverine and Deadpool will be part of the X-Men roster of Avengers: Doomsday in at least some small capacity.

Marvel Studios officially confirmed that the X-Men will be released on May 5, 2028, including the first look at the X-Men logo. This is the first film in Phase 7 and will arrive three days shy of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s 20-year anniversary with the release of Iron Man. With X-Men officially set for May 5, 2028, and Black Panther III confirmed for Dec. 15, 2028, that all but confirms that the Ryan Gosling-led Ghost Rider film will be released in theaters on Jul. 28, 2028.
X-Men Cast
Going into D23, it was highly expected that Marvel Studios would announce the cast of the X-Men following the revelation that Sadie Sink was playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. In the weeks leading up to it, Samara Weaving and Kit Connor joined the cast as Emma Frost and Cyclops, respectively. At D23, Kevin Feige and X-Men director Jake Schreier confirmed the partial cast for X-Men, which includes:
- Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) as Jean Grey
- Kit Connor (Heartstopper) as Cyclops
- Christopher Abbott (Wolf Man) as Professor X
- Samara Weaving (Ready or Not) as Emma Frost
- Maya Boyd as Storm
- Indie Navarrete (Obsession) as Rogue
- Adam Driver (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) as Mister Sinister
All the actors, except Driver, appeared on stage. Driver appeared via a video recording, discussing how he had spoken with Kevin Feige in the past about joining the MCU. Feige added that there’s more X-Men casting news to come, but he couldn’t wait to introduce part of the cast, many of whom met for the first time backstage at D23.
It is worth noting that five of the characters included (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Storm, Professor X, and Rogue) were all featured in the very first X-Men movie back in 2000, the first Marvel movie Kevin Feige was involved in. After years of waiting, the X-Men are finally joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Marvel Studios has assembled a talented young cast that can carry the franchise into the future.
