Taylor Swift is throwing it back to one of her most memorable eras.
Only a few weeks after Swift’s “amicable” split from actor Joe Alwyn, the pop star stepped out in New York City with a squad of close friends that included Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, and all three Haim sisters: Alana, Danielle, and Este. According to Page Six, the posse dropped by the private club and celebrity hot spot Zero Bond for a girls night out. Meaning, in other words, that it simply must be 2016 again.
In the new girl-gang photos (which can be viewed here), Swift is seen at the head of the group wearing a little black dress, black sunglasses, and her signature red lip, while Hadid and Lively rock a more casual vibe in wide-leg, light-wash denim. The Haim sisters, of course, went full Reputation era…or, alternatively, what you might imagine they’d wear in a “No Body, No Crime” music video.
Who else is getting flashbacks of the 1989 tour? The “Bad Blood” music video? Those iconic Fourth of July parties??
The outing comes amid reports that key members of Swift’s inner circle are unfollowing Alwyn en masse, including Hadid and the Haim sisters, as well as Lively’s husband Ryan Reynolds and Swift’s brother Austin. Reynolds’s alleged decision to unfollow Joe would be particularly telling given the moving tribute he penned in Alwyn’s honor for last year’s Time 100 list. Right before the unfollowing spree reportedly started, Swift was spotted riding to dinner with Reynolds and Lively in NYC.
After six years of dating, Taylor Swift is reportedly enjoying her freedom when she’s not performing for sold-out arenas on the US leg of her Eras Tour. Given that she’s performing anthems from many periods of her life and career in a single show, it feels incredibly fitting that Swift is choosing to reunite with her iconic gaggle of celebrity besties right now. The squad appeared to dissolve during Swift’s Reputation era and subsequent retreat from the public eye. But evidently, several of Swift’s friendships survived (and perhaps even grew stronger) through the turmoil.
