‘There’s something wrong with this school. Something doesn’t feel right.” The foreboding voiceover is heard at the beginning of The Nun 2 trailer, the first look at upcoming The Conjuring universe sequel.
Taissa Farmiga and Storm Reid star in the sequel to 2018’s global blockbuster The Nun, which came in as the highest-grossing film out of The Conjuring universe to date.
Directed by Michael Chaves (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) from a script by Akela Cooper, the sequel picks up in 1956 following the murder of a priest. The sequel follows Sister Irene (Farmiga) as she once again comes face-to-face with the demon Valak, played by Bonnie Aarons. Jonas Bloquet also reprises his role as Maurice. Reid stars with Farmiga as a new character, along with Katelyn Rose Downey as Sophie and Anna Popplewell as Marcella.
Cooper wrote the screenplay with current revisions by The Walking Dead writers Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing. Atomic Monster’s James Wan and The Safran Company’s Peter Safran will produce. Wan and Safran have produced all eight of The Conjuring franchise films. Judson Scott will oversee for Atomic Monster with Michael Clear and Gary Dauberman executive producing.
