No pants, no problem. While working in Berlin, Sydney Sweeney tried her hand at the polarizing no-pants trend, teasing the look on Instagram in a tan Miu Miu trench coat. She captioned the Feb. 28 post with a single monkey emoji, sitting on an open windowsill and strategically placing her black leather bag to keep herself covered. She and her stylist, Molly Dickson, added other chic accessories to complete the ultra-minimalistic look, including heeled combat boots, white crew socks, and delicate tinted sunglasses.
As daring as the no-pants trend is on its own, Sweeney’s version seemed even bolder when you consider that the temperatures in Berlin still regularly dip below freezing. Other celebrities have tried the trend with some kind of covering, such as “Stranger Things” star Maya Hawke, who wore sheer black tights as her only bottoms to Milan Fashion Week, or Kylie Jenner, who styled fishnets as pants for the cover of Vanity Fair Italy. But in spite of the weather, Sweeney bared her legs underneath her coat — all in the name of fashion.
Sweeney was recently in Berlin as a part of the Berlin Film Festival, promoting her new movie, “Reality.” On the red carpet, she wore slightly more weather-appropriate looks, including an embellished Alexander McQueen suit with side cutouts and a crystallized corset gown. Still, when it comes to Sweeney’s personal style, it’s less about practicality and more about having fun. Check out her playful pants-less look in more detail above, and see if you’d ever give this trend a try.
