A new Superman & Lois season 3 episode synopsis reveals when Michael Cudlitz will appear as Lex Luthor in the Arrowverse drama. One of Superman’s greatest enemies is coming to Smallville as Superman & Lois season 3 is getting closer to its end. Earlier in 2023, Cudlitz was revealed to have been cast as Lex, as he becomes one of the many actors to portray the legendary DC Comics villain.
With only a few episodes left to go, The CW has officially revealed when Cudlitz is making his debut as Lex in Superman & Lois season 3. The network has released the synopsis for episode 12 of Superman & Lois season 3, titled “Injustice,” which is set to air on Tuesday, June 20. The episode description gives a tease of Lex’s upcoming arrival, as well as what the families in Smallville will be up to, as “Injustice” will focus on the following:
SUPERMAN & LOIS “Injustice” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-14, LV) (HDTV) MICHAEL CUDLITZ “THE WALKING DEAD” GUEST STARS – Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) clash with Jordan (Alex Garfin) over his carelessness around using his powers in public, while Jonathan (Michael Bishop) struggles with Kyle’s (Erik Valdez) change in behavior at the firehouse. Meanwhile, Sarah (Inde Navarrette) grows frustrated with Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) after she accidentally makes things more complicated with Jordan. And finally, after seventeen years behind bars, Lex Luthor (guest star Michael Cudlitz from “The Walking Dead”) is set to be released from prison. Sudz Sutherland directed the episode written by Michael Narducci (#312). Original airdate 6/20/2023. Every episode of SUPERMAN & LOIS will be available to stream on The CW App and CWTV.com the day after broadcast for free and without a subscription, log-in or authentication required.
How Lex Luthor On Superman & Lois Will Be Different From Previous Live-Action Versions
While Lex has been depicted in numerous live-action projects, Superman & Lois season 3 will portray the villain a little differently. With no ties to his Earth-Prime counterpart, this incarnation of Lex has spent almost 20 years in prison and has not taken on the Man of Steel in a very long time. According to The CW’s character description, this Lex is a lot more unhinged than previous live-action versions.
Even though Lex has yet to debut, throughout Superman & Lois season 3, it was revealed that he was actually framed for the crime that the character was sent to jail for in the first place. With Onomatopoeia having mimicked his voice, Lex is actually innocent, which will set up how he is getting released. At this point, it is a safe bet to presume that Lex will also factor heavily into the Superman & Lois season 3 finale, which airs the following week on June 27.
If Superman & Lois season 4 goes forward, it would be interesting to see more of Cudlitz’s Lex, especially after these two episodes that he is about to show up in. Given how much they have been building him up this year, it wouldn’t be shocking if Lex is actually already part of potential plans for Superman & Lois season 4. But for now, fans can look forward to catching him in mid-June in Superman & Lois season 3’s penultimate episode.
