Stephen Amell confirms Arrow’s return on the Flash’s final season

All the speculation can be put to an end finally because Stephen Amell has confirmed via Twitter stating “Of course I’m coming back”. He will be returning on The Flash’s final season. Green Arrow is officially back! As to what storyline will be used we don’t know as of yet and unconfirmed. Last time we saw Oliver Queen he was the Spectre in the crossover for Crisis on Infinite Earths and very much dead or a God. He ended up staying in the Paradise Dimension. Felicity then joined him after 20 years in the last episode of Season 8 of Arrow, where she reunited with Oliver thanks to The Monitor leading her there. Joining him will be David Ramsey as John Diggle, Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Bloodwork in episode 909 of The Flash.

The CW has also put out a statement today: “As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen,” “The Flash” executive producer Eric Wallace said in a statement. “After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen on his heroic path. That’s why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver’s return in the final season of ‘The Flash. “The result is an epic-yet-emotional episode we hope Arrowverse fans will enjoy. It’s all to say “thank you” to everyone for watching and supporting our show throughout nine wonderful years. We absolutely cannot wait for everyone to see Grant and Stephen saving the world together again. And yes, there will be thrills, chills and tears.”

Many took to twitter with confusion and excitement see below tweets:

When was Green Arrow last seen?

The latest comic crossover ended with a significant reveal, as they showed Oliver Queen’s Spectre is seen alive in the year 2049. In a shocking conclusion to the Earth-Prime crossover from DC Comics, the former Green Arrow emerges alongside the Justice League, as it seems that somehow, Queen has returned from his death in The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earth event. The reveal leaves more questions than answers, but the canonical comic ultimately changes the hero’s fate.

In Earth-Prime: Hero’s Twilight #6 by Jeff Hersh, Thomas Pound, Will Robson, Alex Sinclair, and Tom Napolitano by DC Comics, the Arrowverse heroes of 2049 stop the villain Magog and his evil army, as they’re deemed worthy by a shadowy figure. After the battle, Supergirl returns to the Hall of Justice, revealing that Flash, Superman, Black Lightning, and others were watching the young heroes as they were told not to intervene in the test. A mysterious voice responds, saying the trial “pales next to what will be expected of them,” as Oliver Queen’s Spectre, somehow alive, reveals himself, saying they “must be ready” for what’s coming next. How this will all tie into Season 9 of the Flash we don’t know but can’t wait to see what they have planned.

What will the Flash’s final season be about?

Season 9 will pick up with Barry after he defeated the Reverse Flash once and for all, and begins one week later following their epic battle. Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton) are reconnecting and growing closer than ever before. But when a deadly group of Rogues descend on Central City led by a powerful new threat, The Flash and his team — Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Meta-Empath Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), the light-powered meta Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton), brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight) and reformed cryogenics thief Mark Blaine (Jon Cor) — must once again defy impossible odds to save the day.

You can tune in to the ninth and final season of “The Flash” which will be debuting on The CW, February 8, 2023.
