Starfield Tops Europe’s Sales Charts as the Fifth Biggest Game Launch

Starfield has become one of the biggest launches of video games in Europe, sitting comfortably in the #1 spot during its launch week in the sales charts. The game became one of the fastest-selling new IPs of the year and the fifth fastest-selling game of the year overall, making it one of the biggest launches for the Xbox brand.

Of course, there are still other aspects of this data that aren’t taken into account, such as the Premium Edition buyers who had access to the game before it was technically available for sale and the Xbox Game Pass subscribers who are playing Starfield through the means of the subscription service. Speaking of the Xbox brand, Starfield’s massive launch comes ahead of Forza Horizon 5 as the biggest launch for this generation across Europe.

However, the number of sales it managed to get despite this unaccounted data becomes more impressive as a result, as Starfield only lagged behind games with established franchises such as Final Fantasy XVI, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Diablo IV, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Meanwhile, other top contenders that topped the charts during the Week ending on September 10 include Red Dead Redemption 2, Need for Speed: Heat, and Civilization VI.

Starfield is available now for Microsoft Windows, Xbox Series S and X, and Xbox Cloud Gaming services.
