The first few series of Star Trek: Short Treks were already a delight: quick little hits of Trek from various creators and actors with their own, quirky takes on the franchise. But this year’s series is a step above, as Paramount enlisted Casper Kelly for Star Trek: Very Short Treks. The Too Many Cooks creator utilizes the style of the classic Star Trek: The Animated Series, the voice actors from the current shows in the franchise, and his own pitch-dark humor to create five-minute sketches set in the Star Trek universe that are ludicrously hilarious. From a crew of anthropomorphized creatures persnickety about aphorisms to Spock (Ethan Peck) showing off the most horrifying blooper reel of all time, I hope these Short Treks go on for a very long time.
