Splatoon 3‘s upcoming DLC will feature “new and different gameplay,” according to the game’s producer.
In an interview with Famitsu (via Nintendo Everything), producer Hisashi Nogami and co-directors Shintaro Sato and Seita Inoue spoke about Splatoon 3’s upcoming Side Order DLC.
Little is known about the Side Order expansion, which was first teased as part of a trailer for the game’s season pass. However, Nogami did say that the expansion is a “single-player campaign” and will be “completely new and different.”
“In the second wave of this DLC, a new single-player campaign called Side Order super jumps to the Splatoon 3 game. See what’s become of Inkopolis Square, the central area featured in the Splatoon 2 game,” reads a description for the expansion.
There is no current release date for the second piece of DLC for the game.
In VGC’s Splatoon 3 review, critic Matthew Castle called the game “Nintendo’s safest sequel”.
“Its back-of-the-box features read more like (generous) patch notes than a bold invitation to a world of ink-flinging revolution. But if it provides solid fun within those baby steps, does it truly matter? In a game where point one of a percent can result in its biggest thrills, a major splash of paint isn’t always required.”
