'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Tops the Box Office For the Sixth-Straight Weekend


Spider-Man: Brand New Day once again topped the box office this weekend, marking the sixth consecutive weekend the film has dominated movie theaters.

As a quick recap, Brand New Day swung into theaters on July 31.

The fourth solo adventure for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, the latest film picks up Peter Parker’s story after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

“Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name. He’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city as a full-time Spider-Man. But as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced,” the film’s logline reads.

A Box Office Blockbuster

Since Brand New Day hit theaters, the film has been nothing short of a blockbuster. After delivering the biggest North American opening ever, the movie has continued to make history.

The last time we checked in, the film had surpassed Avengers: Endgame at the domestic box office and grossed more than $2.3 billion worldwide.

Now, we have another update to share.

Labor Day Results

According to a new report from Variety, Brand New Day is expected to add another $23.3 million to its domestic box office haul.

As of this writing, the film has now grossed $923 million domestically. By the end of next weekend, Brand New Day is likely to surpass Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($936 million) to become the highest-grossing movie of all time at the domestic box office.

Globally, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has now surpassed $2.4 billion. As things stand, the film is the third-highest-grossing movie of all time, behind Avatar ($2.9 billion) and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion).

What’s Next?

As Brand New Day’s box office run winds down, Marvel will begin to gear up for its next blockbuster release, Avengers: Doomsday.
