‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Dethrones ‘Endgame’ For Biggest Opening Day EVER

Spider-Man, Hulk, and Punisher Collide in New Brand New Day Trailer

As Marvel Studios prepared to swing back into theaters with Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it was clear that the studio had another blockbuster on its hands.

The fourth installment in the MCU’s Spider-Man franchise, Brand New Day picks up after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, following Peter Parker as he begins a new chapter with the world’s memory of him erased.

“Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city as a full-time Spider-Man. But as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced,” the film’s logline reads.

Expectations Were High

Heading into the weekend, Brand New Day was tracking toward a potential $300 million domestic debut.

Then, yesterday, the film delivered a record-breaking $74.5 million in preview screenings.

Now, we have another update to share.

A Historic Day

Spider-Man: Brand New Day kept its momentum going today, delivering a record opening day of between $167 million and $173 million.

That figure was easily enough to surpass Avengers: Endgame‘s $157.4 million opening day, setting a new all-time record.

The question now is whether the film will be able to surpass Endgame‘s record $357.1 million domestic opening weekend.

According to Deadline, the film is continuing to build momentum and may have an outside chance of making history.

Any way you slice it, however, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a historic hit and another major win for Marvel Studios.

With Avengers: Doomsday hitting theaters this December, we may look back at 2026 as the year Kevin Feige and his team righted the ship and charted a new course for the MCU.
