With the anniversary fast approaching of the film Dirty Dancing, RCA Records and Legacy Recordings are releasing a special collectible edition for the original motion picture soundtrack. This 35th-anniversary cassette edition of Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) contains two sides, Side A and Side B featuring all of our favorite songs from the original movie, the way they were meant to be heard. The original soundtrack generated two multi-platinum albums and multiple hit singles including our favorite “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life,” performed by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes, which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song, the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song and the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.

Dirty Dancing changed a generation by featuring some of the most iconic scenes in film history. The movie, which has some of the best songs of all time, showed you that it was okay to be different and it was okay to fall in love. Written by Eleanor Bergstein, produced by Linda Gottlieb, and directed by Emile Ardolino; it starred Patrick Swayze as Johnny Castle and Jennifer Grey as Francis Houseman but most lovers of the film will know her as “baby.”

Baby is traveling with her family to a vacation resort to spend the summer in a time that can be described as nothing other than nostalgic. Pretty quickly into the film, it becomes clear that Baby is attracted to the attractive and popular dance instructor Johnny and we follow the two as they go through the wringer between rumors, fights, and some epic dance scenes. The film’s pro-choice storyline stoked controversy at the time of release and has only become more relevant in the coming years. It premiered at the 1987 Cannes Film Festival and was released in the US on August 21, 1987, and went on to earn more than $214 million worldwide while becoming the first film to sell more than a million copies in the home video market.

Lionsgate, GEA Live, and Karl Sydow announced Dirty Dancing in Concert, which will celebrate the film’s 35th anniversary on a full-size cinema screen with a band and singers performing all of the music live on stage in sync with the movie. The company promises that the soundtrack that defined a generation will be the next level for those who attend “Dirty Dancing in Concert.” Tickets are available now by clicking here.

Later this summer, Mondo will be releasing a limited edition 2xLP color vinyl collection featuring new pressings of Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) and more. Pre-orders will start on August 24, 2022, so bookmark this link to make sure you don’t miss out.

The special 35th-anniversary cassette edition of Dirty Dancing (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) will be available on August 19, 2022.
