A few days ago, we updated you on a special Guardians of the Galaxy character in the works for Disneyland’s Avengers Campus. Here’s a sneak peek at the Baby Groot Animatronic via a Play Test that recently took place at Disney California Adventure!
Play Test at Disney California Adventure
As reported before, Disney journalist Scott Gustin recently took to Twitter to share some exciting news. The post reads, “Disneyland Resort is conducting play tests of an animatronic Baby Groot, a Disneyland official confirmed.”

“Select park guests are being invited to a short presentation. The tech from Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development was first revealed as ‘Project Kiwi’ in 2021.”
The presentation was held over the weekend inside the Disney Junior Dance Party building. Gustin tweeted an image from the event via YouTuber OwensVentures.

Take a look at this photo of the adorable, and might we add, incredibly realistic-looking character in action. According to a previous tweet from Gustin via Micechat, during the show, participants are invited to “jam” with Groot via a Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance Off!
According to KTLA5, Groot was expected to interact with Star-Lord, via talking and reacting to the character. Twitter user Alexandria the Red shares, “I went and seeing him do the sprinkler was absolutely insane! I could have just stood there and watched him blink all day.”
