I did not expect to write the sentence “Matt Berry is voicing an IKEA bookcase in a Skyrim mod” today, nor at any point in my life, but here we are. In an unexpected move from IKEA, they’ve teamed with developer Kinggath Creations to release an official IKEA mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. The new mod is free on the Creations store and features a new companion, and a new two-dungeon quest. Your new companion, Kallax Storageborn—named for the infamous Kallax bookcase—joins the Dragonborn on their quest. It fits right in with the rest of Skyrim‘s companions, in that its (…his?) primary purpose is to hold all your sh*t so you can loot more corpses before having to trudge back home.

Playing Kallax Storageborn is the aforementioned What We Do In the Shadows alum, Matt Berry. Matt Berry has seemingly been everywhere in the gaming world lately. He voiced the Mr. Handy robots in Fallout and, hilariously, Bane in the new LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Along with your fully-voiced ergonomic companion, players get access to a new quest with two IKEA-themed dungeons. You won’t go at it alone, but you also won’t be unprotected or unarmed. The mod features the Meatball Helmet, presumably of the Swedish variety. You can protect your noggin while eating the new in-game meatball food items! Better yet is the Dwemer Allen Key weapon, the Mighty Allenblade. I can feel my hands blistering already.
Obviously, this is shameless product placement. But in a sea of hundreds of thousands of Skyrim mods, at least this one is a) free and b) funny. I’m still laughing about the custom Thu’um the mod comes with. To summon your pal Kallax Storageborn, the Dragonborn need only bellow—AYE-KEY-YAH! If this speaks to you—or shouts to you—the mod is available now in Creations.
