‘Shining Vale’ Reactions – Deadline

Following the news that Starz was canceling Shining Vale after two seasons, the reactions have been coming in.

Co-creator Jeff Astrof has weighed in on the fact that the series would be eliminated from the streaming service and urged his followers to watch before it disappeared.

“This show gave me unrelenting joy to work on. Not a single bad day. Please watch the #starz (turns out, Limited) series #shiningvale before 12/31. #wearephelps,” Astrof posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

Kay Reindl, who is credited as a writer and a consulting producer on the series starring Courteney Cox and Greg Kinnear, apologized for ending the show on a cliffhanger.

“Such a wonderful experience! If you haven’t seen it, now you can just do a trial and watch (sadly) all the episodes. Sorry about the cliffhanger,” Reindly shared on X.

Shining Vale is a comedy horror television series co-created by Astrof and Sharon Horgan. The show revolves around a dysfunctional family that moves from the city to a small town after Cox’s Pat Phelps is caught cheating on her husband. The house the family moves into has a history of horrible atrocities taking place within its walls, which Pat is the only one to perceive.

Alongside Cox, the show also starred Greg Kinnear, Gus Birney, Dylan Gage, Merrin Dungey and Mira Sorvino. Recurring actors throughout its two-season run included Sherilyn Fenn, Judith Light, Alysia Reiner, Susan Park, Derek Luh, Parvesh Cheena, James M. Connor, Ellie Grace Pomeroy, Benjamin Steinberg, Allison Tolman and Alberto Frezza.
