Shakira has one word for you: “no.” The pop star, who is rumored to have denied Tom Cruise’s romantic advances this summer, attended the Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2023/2024 show as part of Paris Fashion Week on Wednesday, July 5, wearing a top that could be a rather loud message to the Mission: Impossible star himself Or her ex. Or men in general. Or me! Who knows.
The “Hips Don’t Lie” singer wore a white, midi-length belted trench coat with the word “NO” sewn onto the bodice in oversize, three-dimensional letters. The coat has gold zipper trim that creates a graphic look.
Shakira styled the statement piece with gold strappy heels, brown aviator sunglasses, and a gold handbag. She wore her hair down in a sleek and straight style with a middle part. For makeup, she went for a classic minimal summer look with a matte pink lip.
Rumors that Cruise was interested in pursuing Shakira romantically circled in May after the two were seen hanging out at Formula 1 in Miami. “He is extremely interested in pursuing her,” a source told Page Six. A report in Heat Magazine alleged that Cruise was “absolutely mesmerized” by Shakira, who was “begging” him to stop flirting with her. US Weekly later reported that Shakira had seen the dating rumors, and thought they were funny. “Shakira has seen the online rumors that Tom has been courting her—and how fans are chiming in with their opinions—but she thinks it’s hilarious because it’s just not true,” the source said. “She had a fun time when they chatted, but that’s as far as things have gone.” Shakira separated from her partner of ten years, Gerard Piqué, in 2022.
Back to more important, real things: Camila Cabello was also at the Viktor & Rolf show, and was seated next to Shakira in the front row. Cabello wore a black mini dress made of multiple lace fabrics with extremely puffy sleeves, as is the Viktor & Rolf way. A seating arrangement coincidence, or a hint at a possible collab?
