Disney+ has released a large variety of Marvel content since the platform launched in 2019. From diving deeper into worlds we already know, to introducing audiences to new characters and storylines — Marvel has expanded its universe with the use of their various series on Disney+.
Some of these series–and the characters they debuted–have been so successful that Marvel was even able to create spin-offs for several shows. And unfortunately, some of these highly-anticipated spin-offs are included in the list of Marvel content receiving delayed release dates.

They report that What If…? season 2, Echo, X-Men ’97, Agatha, Ironheart, Daredevil: Born Again, and Wonder Man were included in the list of Marvel shows receiving new, pushed-back release dates.
What If…? Season 2 — Around Christmas Day
Season 2 of What If…? has been delayed to release sometime around Christmas day. In case you’re not familiar with this series, What If…? takes viewers on a journey, exploring how various characters and storylines may have been different in other timelines. In the first season of the series, we watched some beloved heroes become zombies, T’Challa was Star-Lord, and Dr. Strange was…well — strange. There were many different “what if?” scenarios explored in the first series of the show, and we’re very excited to see what happens in season 2.
Echo — January 2024
Echo–a series many fans are looking forward to–is now set to release in January 2024. Echo is actually a spin-off from Hawkeye — another Disney+ series. In this series, we’ll follow Maya Lopez, who must return to her hometown in Oklahoma to make peace with her past. The series will also feature Daredevil and Kingpin.
X-Men ’97 — Early 2024
This animated series has been delayed to premiere sometime in early 2024. The series is said to be a continuation of the 1990s series. A season two is still planned for the future.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries — Early Fall 2024
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is a show many Marvel fans have been looking forward to; however, they’ll have to wait until early fall 2024 to watch it. Agatha was originally introduced to audiences in WandaVision, where she proved to be a powerful rival to Wanda.
Ironheart — Off the Schedule
Ironheart finished shooting, but it’s off the schedule. The series follows Riri Williams, the inventor audiences were introduced to in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We’ll update you when a date is provided for this series.
Daredevil: Born Again — Paused
Daredevil: Born Again was supposed to debut in Spring 2024, but its production has been paused. This series will be a continuation of the Netflix series based on this character.
Wonder Man — Paused
Wonder Man, the show named after the Marvel character, has also had production paused.
Why the Delays?
The writers’ strike started in early May, with the actors starting their strike in July. The strikes have caused a huge impact in Hollywood, with production and development of projects taking huge hits. Marvel was also touched by these strikes, resulting in the delayed releases of several shows. Marvel would like to still make each show a huge event for fans, so they decided to spread out the release of their content accordingly.
We’ll continue to keep you updated on any changes to release dates, so stay tuned!
