Sega Went Sicko Mode and Finally Killed Sonic The Hedgehog

We’re all used to April Fools Day pranks, and gaming developers love to get in on the joke. However, this year Sega finally did the unthinkable; they murdered the blue blur Sonic in cold blood. No, this isn’t a joke, it’s real, and those heroes finally did it. The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog is a real game you can play right now.

Sega Went Sicko Mode and Finally Killed Sonic The Hedgehog

The Murder of Sonic The Hedgehog is free to play on Steam. Join Sonic and the gang as they celebrate Amy Rose’s birthday on the Mirage Express. When a simple murder mystery party goes south, it’s up to you and the crew to hunt down Sonic The Hedghog’s killer. You don’t have to; Sonic can stay dead if we want.

This visual novel features all of the Sonic cast, from Tails to the weird green alligator man I still refuse to learn the name of.

You might be wondering if this is canon, and at the bottom of the Steam description, it states,

“You know what they say: everything is canon*.

*This is not a Sonic Team title, but we strongly believe in the power of headcanon!”

We like to believe here at Prima that this is, in fact, canon, but that’s up to you and how you want to interpret things. While not an official Sonic Team game, this murder mystery is still published and developed by Sega, meaning that someone over there had to bravely pitch the death of the beloved hedgehog alongside making it a playable game for fans to experience.

Whoever did this, if you’re reading it, you are our hero. Thank you for your service. If you haven’t been sold on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, you should also know that Knuckles wears a cowboy hat in this game. This is almost as good as the time they put Sonic in Two Point Hospital because Sonic Fans have always been sick.
