While we do not know how, or even if, Nick Fury will be able to stop the Skrull Invasion taking place in the Disney+ series Secret Invasion, we do know that this is not the last we will see of the master spy.
Because Secret Invasion is difficult to pin down within the MCU timeline, it is unclear whether or not chronologically the series will be Fury’s last adventure. However, with The Marvels set to hit theaters this November, fans can be assured that Samuel L. Jackson’s Marvel journey isn’t over yet.
Did Ali Selim Have To Write A Specific Nick Fury Story?
For Secret Invasion director Ali Selim, knowing that The Marvels is on the horizon meant that he knew he had to get Nick Fury to a certain place. While there were minor constraints about what he could do, the director stated that Marvel gave him essentially free reign.
“The answer is yes, but they’re not protracted conversations. It’s just simply, ‘Where do you need him? You need him here? Great.’ And then we write into that. So that kind of stuff is very simple because it’s all above my pay grade.”
Samuel L. Jackson Is Ready For Next Adventure
While the plot behind The Marvels has been kept largely under wraps, Jackson has sounded excited to continue his Marvel story.
“After Secret Invasion, I’m moving on to The Marvels, where you got like three different people who are Captain Marvel. You got Brie [Larson], you got a black Captain Marvel, and you got a Muslim Captain Marvel,” Jackson said on a recent episode of Sway’s Universe (via The Direct). “So, they’re working on the universe in a way that’s inclusive. Even like Shang-Chi and all those things that happen there. And… who the hell is Bad Bunny gonna be? Like, Bad Bunny’s in the Marvel universe. Who that? What he gonna be?”
Secret Invasion is streaming now on Disney+.
