Sebastian Stan is Officially a Golden Globe Winner

Sebastian Stan, who had earned double acting nominations at this year’s Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor in a Drama and in a Musical or Comedy, took home the award for his transformative performance in A Different Man in the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy category.

The actor triumphed in a competitive category that included Jesse Eisenberg, Hugh Grant, Gabriel LaBelle, Jesse Plemons, and Glen Powell. This marks Stan’s third time being nominated and first time winning a Golden Globe.

Stan’s double nominations were a rarity, even at an event known for its eclectic mix of film and television recognition. While many actors have achieved nominations in both mediums particularly this year such as Kate Winslet and Selena Gomez, earning two in the same section is an uncommon accolade.

“I never would’ve dreamt that I was going to be going to the Globes with both of these films, I never would’ve dreamt that both of the films would’ve come out in the same year,” Said Stan in an interview with Vanity Fair.

In A Different Man, Stan portrays a man with neurofibromatosis who undergoes facial reconstructive surgery and becomes obsessed with an actor playing him in a stage production. The film, lauded for its bold narrative and Stan’s nuanced portrayal, marked a significant milestone in the actor’s career.

Taking the stage to accept his award from presenters Andrew Garfield and Kerry Washington, Stan delivered an emotional and thought-provoking speech, Stan highlighted the importance of normalizing disability and disfigurement in storytelling: “Our ignorance and discomfort around disability and disfigurement has to end now. We have to normalize it and continue to expose ourselves to it and our children, encouraging acceptance. One way we can do that is by continuing to champion stories that are inclusive.” He also took the opportunity to mention “this was not an easy movie, neither was The Apprentice” takung the opportunity to highlight the struggles behind that film as well.

In a rare personal moment, Stan gave a shoutout to his girlfriend, actress Annabelle Wallis, saying, “Annabelle, I love you.” He concluded his speech with a moving tribute to his family, “This is for my mom, who left Romania in search of a better life, gave me everything, and for my stepfather, Tony, who took on a single mom and a grown-up kid. Thank you for being a real man.”

Stan’s Golden Globe win not only cements his status as one of Hollywood’s most versatile actors but also serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of inclusivity in the arts. 2025 has undoubtedly been a landmark year for Stan. His win underscores his versatility and dedication to his craft, further cementing his status as one of Hollywood’s most dynamic leading men.

For now, Stan’s fans can only wait to see how he’ll top this achievement particulary at the 2025 Academy Awards.
