Seagate has dropped the price of its Xbox Series X/S storage expansion cards.
On Friday, Xbox’s Twitter account notified players of the price cuts, which currently only appear to be live in the United States.
Xbox Series X/S launched in 2020 with a 1TB Seagate expansion card priced at $219.99 / £219.99. It was joined by a 512GB card ($139.99) and a 2TB card ($399.99) in late 2021.

Those prices have now been adjusted as follows:
- 512GB: $89.99 (from $139.99)
- 1TB: $149.99 (from $219.99)
- 2TB: $279.99 (from $399.99)
In the UK, where only the 1TB card is currently listed as available on Microsoft’s store, the price is still £219.99.
Seagate expansion cards remain the only way to expand the console’s storage for native Series X/S games.
Xbox One and backwards compatible Xbox 360 and Xbox games can be stored on an external USB drive, but they can’t run Series X/S games because their read/write speeds are far slower than the console’s internal SSD.
Seagate’s move to drop prices may precede the arrival of alternative storage options soon.
Last month, a new 1TB Western Digital expansion card for Xbox Series X/S appeared online at Best Buy, seemingly ahead of schedule as the product listing was later removed.
