While Black Widow’s journey in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has concluded, Scarlett Johansson is not done with the studio yet.
While speaking to ComicBook.com, the actress revealed that her secret Marvel Studios project is “still happening”, but is currently on pause as the result of the WGA strike and the potential upcoming SAG-AFTRA strike.
“It is still happening. Yes,” Johansson confirmed. “It is still happening, [but] not currently because nothing is happening right now. We’re all sort of in this holding pattern as we wait out the writers’ strike. And potentially our own guild strike, and so on and so forth.”
Johansson Isn’t Done With Marvel Yet
Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming project was first revealed in 2021 by Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.
Subsequently, however, Johansson and Disney went to court over the company’s decision to release “Black Widow” in theaters and on streaming simultaneously.
The bitter battle over the film’s release was eventually settled out of court, and Johansson seems to have no hard feelings towards Marvel or Disney.
Although the star has re-affirmed that she is finished playing Black Widow, the upcoming project will seen Johansson in a producing role for a project unrelated to the character.
