Ryan Reynolds shares first look at Dogpool in Deadpool 3

Ryan Reynolds shares the first look at Dogpool as Deadpool 3, Captain America 4, Thunderbolts & Blade get new release dates

Deadpool 3 was in the midst of production when the SAG-AFTRA strike forced filming to come to a halt, but now that a deal has been reached, the Merc with a Mouth will soon be getting back to work. Now that Ryan Reynolds is able to promote Deadpool 3, the actor took to X/Twitter to drop a look at Dogpool with his very own Deadpool costume.

As for those new release dates, Marvel Studios announced that Deadpool 3 will now open on July 26, 2024 instead of May 3, 2024. That July date was previously held by Captain America: Brave New World , which has moved to February 14, 2025. Thunderbolts has moved from December 20, 2024 to July 25, 2025. Blade has also shifted, moving from February 14, 2025 to November 7, 2025.

In the comics, Dogpool became a member of the Deadpool Corps after being experimented on by the Mascara-X Project, which left him with the ability to heal himself. It’s not clear if Dogpool will be some sort of variant in Deadpool 3 or simply Wade Wilson’s pet, but he’s one handsome devil.

In addition to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, the upcoming sequel will see the return of Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio, Stefan Kapičić as the voice of Colossus, and Rob Delaney as Peter. Deadpool 3 will also star Emma Corrin, who is expected to play the villain, and Matthew Macfadyen in an undisclosed role.

The biggest addition to the Deadpool 3 cast is Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, who finally broke down after being pestered by Ryan Reynolds for so many years. Reynolds said that the sequel will present a new challenge for Jackman. “I think [Jackman] was excited and what we pitched him was enough of a divergence from the character that he knows and the character that he’s left behind,” Reynolds said, “that it gives him something completely new to play and something that he’s really excited to do.” Clearly, all that pestering paid off. “I mean, I never stopped,” Reynolds said. “I was just pestering him like a gnat over the last many years. I actually just think… I believe in timing … and I think he was ready.
