RØDE Announces a Massive Slate of Streaming and Podcasting Solutions

Australian audio company storms NAB with largest product release in company history.

Australian audio company RØDE has arrived in Las Vegas for NAB bringing along the largest product release in the company’s 56-year history. The company is ready to take NAB by storm with seven new products ranging from new microphones to an expanded lineup of Podcast mixers, live-streaming tech, and a few firmware updates.

Here is what you need to know about these new announcements from RØDE.

Streamer X

First on the list of impressive products is the RØDE Streamer X audio interface and capture console. The Streamer X features studio-quality XLR and line-level audio inputs, with support for RØDE wireless microphones and powerful APHEX audio processing.

The console also offers up to 4K30p streaming and 4K60 pass-through, with 2K streaming at up to 120 frames per second. From streaming to gaming, podcasting, and live presentations, the Stream X console can connect up to two computer setups via USB-C and has four customizable SMART pads for on-the-fly audio effects, jingles, and more.

Streamer X also supports software applications including UNIFY, RØDE Central, and RØDE Connect for expanded streaming functions and audio leveling.

RØDECaster Duo

Next on the list is the RØDECaster Duo. Based on the successful RØDECaster Pro II  audio mixing console, the RØDECaster Duo is ideal for smaller podcast setups that only require two audio channels and a limited number of SMART Pads to accomplish its task.

The RØDECaster Duo has the same quad-core audio engine, RØDE’s Revolution Preamps, and APHEX audio processing, all housed in a more compact and portable console form factor.

RØDE PodMic USB

As an ideal companion to the above two products, RØDE is also releasing the PodMic USB, which offers the same unique dual connectivity of analog XLR and digital USB-C found in RØDE’s NTI 5th Generation studio microphone.

The PodMic USB is the second generation microphone behind RØDE original PodMic, with a studio-grade pop filter, Revolution Preamp, and a high-performance analog-to-digital converter that promises pristine audio capture and advanced digital signal processing through APHEX.

The microphone also features zero-latency headphone output and on-board volume control and is supported by the complete RØDE software suit including RØDE Central, RØDE Connect, RØDE Capture, and UNIFY, which the company touts as the most versatile microphone ever.

RØDE is also releasing a new Wireless GO II charging case which will house and charge the both transmitters and the receiver with three full charging sessions and up to thirty hours of continuous use.

RØDE is also releasing a custom backpack for RØDECaster Pro, RØDECaster DUO, or even the Streamer X, and still have plenty of room for microphones, studio arms, and laptops up to 16 inches. Designed to be rugged and “hard-wearing,” the backpack comes with a soft, durable Alcantara® handle, ballistic nylon straps, and a water-resistant exterior making it comfortable and ergonomic to wear while bringing your complete RØDE setup out into the field.

Firmware Updates

RØDE is also adding features to a few existing products through well-timed firmware updates to the RØDE Wireless GO II and RØDECaster Pro II audio mixer console.

The update for the Wireless GO II unlocks the ability to save onboard recordings as wave files for transferring to a computer, start/stop functions on both transmitter and receiver using the device’s power buttons, and expanded camera presets to support more camera models.

Meanwhile, the RØDECaster Pro II opens up support for wireless audio connectivity to connect any RØDE Series IV wireless transmitter, including the RØDE Wireless GO II and the recently released RØDE Wireless ME microphone systems. With this release, RØDECaster Pro II users can connect audio through microphones and instruments, devices via Bluetooth, dual USB interfaces, and mobile devices, and now wireless audio simultaneously, making the RØDECaster Pro II even more versatile than ever before.

Pricing and Availability

Release dates and pricing will be forthcoming in the following weeks, and RØDE will showcase all these products at the B&H Booth in Central Hall (#C8317) during NAB from April 16th to the 17th. All firmware is available for downloading and updating from the RØDE support website.

All told, with these products, RØDE is giving content creators the ability to create affordable, professional-grade audio for video, studio recording, live streaming, gaming, and podcasting with big-budget production value on a modest independent budget.

It’ll be interesting to see what the company does next.
