Rockstar Releases GTA 6 Trailer Early Amid Leaks

There we have it, an early Christmas present for Grand Theft Auto fans worldwide. Despite GTA 6’s Trailer 1’s debut date set for December 5, 2023, Rockstar pushed it out early after it leaked on Twitter – and it even got a release window.

The developer posted the 90-second trailer on its official YouTube channel. It’s filled with action, as you’d expect, and is paired with the 1989 song, “Love Is A Long Road” by Tom Petty, which really is a great fit for a GTA if you ask me. It puts me right back in GTA Vice City vibe, where I want to be.

It starts out with the first female protagonist in the series’ history, Lucia, in a correctional facility (where else have we seen this cliche?). It quickly pans out to lovely Miami-like beaches, before showing swamps full of flamingos, and then flicks back to show the wild Miami nightlife. And just when I thought I’d seen everything, there were crocodiles. Wild crocodiles. Many crocodiles. GTA 6 really does try to emulate Florida.

However, if you were looking for a 100% 80s vibe, you might be in for a small letdown because this will be modern-day Florida, with the inescapable influence of social media on the lives of the people in GTA 6.

The scene ends with a “Bonnie and Clyde” style gas station robbery and the announcement that the next Grand Theft Auto game is coming in 2025. Given that it’s the end of 2023, we’ve got a minimum of one year left before GTA 6 hits the physical and virtual shelves worldwide.

Calling it now: GTA 6 is the most popular game release ever.
