Redfall won’t include a 60 FPS Performance mode on Xbox Series X/S when the game is released next month.
Instead, it will be added via a game update “at a later date”, the game’s official Twitter account confirmed on Wednesday.
At launch, the Xbox versions of the game will include a Quality mode only, with Xbox Series X supporting 4K 30 FPS and Xbox Series S offering 1440p 30 FPS.
Redfall – official gameplay deep dive
Redfall is an open-world FPS playable solo or with a team of up to four-players in co-op. It sees players battling to defeat a legion of vampires who have cut the quaint island town of Redfall, Massachusetts off from the outside world.
At launch, a persistent online connection will be required for single player and co-op, although developer Arkane Studios recently confirmed it’s “looking into” removing the requirement for solo players to always be connected online.
Following a delay from a previously planned 2022 launch, publisher Microsoft recently announced a Redfall release date of May 2, 2023 on Xbox and PC, alongside details of a special edition and pre-order bonuses.
The Redfall Bite Back Edition will include the Hero Pass, which will provide access to two future heroes, and the Throwback Outfit Pack, featuring a unique outfit and backpack for each of the four base heroes inspired by their lives before the events of the game. It will also come with a Laser Beam multi-weapon skin, and the Tactical Knife Stake weapon attachment.
Players who pre-order Redfall or play the game with Xbox Game Pass will receive the Vampire Hunter Pack. It will include the exclusive Grim Tide Shotgun, which grants 20% increased damage for eight seconds after killing an enemy, a Polar Vortex multi-weapon skin, and a Blood Ravager Stake weapon attachment.
In a Redfall preview published last month, we called it an “utterly engrossing single-player experience” which “is shaping up to be the studio’s strongest shooter to date”.
