Organizers of the annual South By Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festival held in Austin, Texas are planning an Australian version of the event, which brings together the worlds of music, film, television and tech, for the fall of 2023.

Set to run from October 15 to October 22, SXSW Sydney will gather creators and executives from the categories of music, screen, gaming, technology and innovation. A collaboration with TEG, the NSW Government and Destination NSW, it will serve as the official annual Asia Pacific installment of SXSW, which has taken place every March since 1987 in Austin, Texas.

“We couldn’t be more excited and honored to work with TEG and the New South Wales Government via Destination NSW on an event that brings to Australia the professional opportunities and unexpected discoveries that make SXSW unique,” said Roland Swenson, CEO & co-founder of SXSW, in a statement. “The purpose of SXSW is to help creative people achieve their goals, and Sydney is the ideal city to serve as a home for the cross-collaboration that exists within the many industries we bring together.”

The 2023 edition of SXSW in Austin is slated for March 10-19.
