The clock is ticking for Far Far Away’s most daring feline, Puss in Boots. Having used eight of his lives, the once-fearless hero is forced to face his mortality as a mysterious bounty hunter vows to take number nine. In the adventure that ensues, we watch as the beloved Shrek character searches for magic, grapples with romance and explores the nature of being human (well, being cat). Antonio Banderas returns to the film series as Puss, while Salma Hayek Pinault reprises her role as Kitty Softpaws. Other cast members include John Mulaney and Florence Pugh, as well as newcomer Harvey Guillen who voices Perrito, a homeless dog with a charmingly comical knack for social work. If you’re into fairy tales, laughing (expect some under-the-radar adult jokes) or escaping into a world of fantasy, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish should be the next movie on your watch list. And, with near perfect reviews and an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Picture, it looks like the critics agree.
