The first-ever NFL Black Friday game will stream on Prime Video during the Thanksgiving holiday in 2023.
The participating teams have yet to be announced, but the streaming platform confirmed that the Black Friday NFL game will stream the Friday after Thanksgiving Day in 2023. That’s Friday, Nov. 24, 2023, and the expected kickoff time is 3 p.m.
“Thursday Night Football has already proven tremendously successful on Prime Video, delivering millions of viewers every week, and we’re excited to expand our relationship with the NFL with the inaugural Black Friday game, starting next year,” Jay Marine, global head of sports, Prime Video, said in a statement. “Black Friday is the unofficial start of the holiday season, and we’re thrilled to kick it off with a gift for football fans across the country with this new game.”
Amazon and the NFL first partnered for game distribution during the 2017 season as part of a tri-cast distribution model of Thursday Night Football. The deal was expanded in the spring of 2021 when Prime Video acquired the rights to be the exclusive home of Thursday Night Football, in the NFL’s first-ever all-digital package.
According to Nielsen Media Research, the first five games of Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football averaged 10.8 million viewers. The ratings are up 48% from the first five games in 2021 among viewers in the 18-34 demographic and up 25% in adults 18-49.
