Premieres & Parties Gallery – Deadline

Filmmakers and festival attendees will gather this year at the 37th edition of the 2023 SXSW Film & TV Festival to celebrate the convergence of the tech, film, and music industries across a variety of programming formats and special events from March 10-19 in Austin, TX and online.

Fest-goers can expect red carpet premieres, gala Film, TV, Documentary and Spotlight events with talent expected to participate across all platforms.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, world premiered on opening night with cast members Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Justice Smith, Daisy Head, Sophia Lillis, Jeremy Latcham, and the directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein at the Paramount Theater on Friday, March 10 in Austin, Texas. Other Screenings on opening night included Later Bloomers; Only The Good Survive; National Anthem; Swarm and the Sundance horror favorite Talk to Me.

Day 2 of SXSW on Saturday, March 11th, continued with screenings and world premieres from the films You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder starring Clara McGregor and Ewan McGregor; Lucky Hank; Bottoms directed by Emma Seligman; The Angry Black Girl and Her Monster; If You Were the Last; I’m A Virgo; Self Reliance directed by Jake Johnson; Love & Death; David West Read’s The Big Door Prize; Down Low directed by Rightor Doyle and Scrambled.

Robert Rodriguez’s film Work-In-Progress starring Ben Affleck, screened on Day 3 of the festival including Cora Bora directed by Hannah Pearl Utt, Blackberry and The Long Game.

Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski attended a special screening of John Wick: Chapter 4 at The Paramount Theater on March 13. The blockbuster franchise from Lionsgate continues as the hitman uncovers a path to defeating The High Table in order to earn his freedom. Wick must face off against a new enemy with powerful alliances across the globe and forces that turn old friends into foes. The film also stars Laurence Fishburne, Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama and Bill Skarsgård. Other screenings and premieres included Problemista; Bloody Hell; Being Mary Tyler Moore and Monolith on Day 4.

Other Film & TV highlights include Americana directed by Tony Tost; Furies directed by Veronica Ngo; The New Americans: Gaming a Revolution directed by Ondi Timoner; It Lives Inside directed by Bishal Dutta; Zoe Lister Jones’ Slip; Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm’s Demascus; Tara Hernandez and Damon Lindelof’s Mrs. Davis and Kelvin Yu’s American Born Chinese.

The SXSW Conference is organized into 25 programming tracks presented in a variety of session formats. The tracks for 2023 include 2050, Advertising & Brand Experience, Cannabis, Civic Engagement, Climate Change, Creating Film & Episodics, Culture, Design, Energy, Film & TV Industry, Food, Game Industry, Health & MedTech, Markets & Economies, Media Industry, Music & Tech, Music Careers, Psychedelics, Sports, Startups, Tech Industry, Transportation, Travel & Leisure, Workplace Revolution and XR & Metaverse.
