Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Has Finally Fixed Photo Mode’s Biggest Flaw

On September 12, 2023, update 2.0.1 was released for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Not only did it bring the long-awaited The Teal Mask downloadable content, which is the first half of the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, but it also added bug fixes and a handful of quality-of-life changes—including a way to make your Pokémon stand still when taking photos finally. Hallelujah.

If you loved taking selfies with your Pokémon in the base game but got annoyed because they literally would not stay still, this will be music to your ears. Gone are the days of trying to get the perfect angle within two seconds before your ‘mon decided to dance or fall asleep. Now, you can tell it to play Statues while you snap away.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet has also added a new music feature to its photo mode. While taking a photo with your Pokémon, you can press ZL or ZR to cycle through song tracks that will cause your ‘mon to change its facial expression. It’s super cute!

These photo mode changes aren’t the only tweaks added in the update. Head to our Pokémon Scarlet and Violet update 2.0.1 patch notes guide for the full list. And if you’ve yet to start The Teal Mask DLC, here’s how.
