They bought a zoo! Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott have five children — and enough pets to open their own farm.
“I have dogs, I have guinea pigs, I have pigs, I have chickens, I have bearded dragons …,” the Beverly Hills, 90210 alum revealed in a 2019 video on her YouTube channel, giving her fans a glimpse at just some of the many pets the family owns.
Spelling and McDermott, who is also father of son Jack with ex-wife Mary Jo Eustace, share sons Liam, Finn and Beau, and daughters Stella and Hattie. Stella, born in 2008, is “mom” to several of the family’s pets, including cat Bean and dog Thea.
“Crazy Chihuahua?,” Thea’s Instagram bio reads. (Several of the McDermott pets have their own Instagram pages.) “Love My Family and My Mom @Stella_McDermott08?.”
Tragically, Bean — the family’s indoor Bengal cat — went missing in late 2022.
“He is the love of our lives and my kids are devastated!” Spelling wrote via Instagram at the time, alongside important information about the feline. “My 14 year old daughter who suffers major anxiety is his human,” she penned, referring to Stella’s connection with the cat. “Bean knows before she gets her panic attacks and lays on her chest and kneads biscuits.”
The Spelling-McDermott family has a strong bond with all of their animals. In fact, one of the Scary Movie 2 star’s bearded dragons is just as much of a reality TV show fan as his mom.
“He likes to sit on my head. He watches all my reality shows with me … Housewives and Kardashians,” Spelling revealed in her “Tori Tried and True” YouTube video in 2019, showing off one of her two reptiles lounging on the crown of her head. “He has a favorite Kardashian. He loves Khloé,” she joked, explaining that the bearded dragon moves his head in a certain way whenever the Good American cofounder is on screen. The brothers — named Smushy and Slushy — also “like to ride on the dogs’ backs,” she explained, joking that their senior dog, Arthur, is like their “horse.”
Spelling has also experienced loss when it comes to her big brood of animals — particularly the family’s guinea pig, aptly named Mama Guinea Pig.
While the actress and the Chopped Canada alum adopted Mama and her babies, the happy guinea pig family was not meant to last.
“Sadly, she sat on all of them and killed them, but I still love her,” the True Tori alum explained in her 2019 video. “I don’t judge her. These things happen.”
