Pedro Pascal Fully Supports Bo-Katan Taking Over The Mandalorian

Spoiler Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Season 3 of The Mandalorian.

Pedro Pascal, Din Djarin himself, fully supports Bo-Katan Kryze taking over The Mandalorian in Season 3.

Speaking to Variety, Pascal explained he loved seeing Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan take on the titular Mandalorian title as he’s a big fan of Dave Filoni’s extended Star Wars universe (and Battlestar Galactica, he admitted, which Sackhoff starred in for five years).

“I think [the heavy focus on Bo-Katan] was great in that it also brings into full realization a beloved character that is from the world of Dave Filoni,” Pascal said.

“She gets to take centre stage in the third [season]. It’s what I would want for the character and as a fan of The Clone Wars.”

He almost sees Din Djarin’s character as an entry point to Filoni’s stories, which include the animated series The Clone Wars and Rebels, that allows a new audience to see Bo-Katan’s story.

“Everyone gets to experience the excitement of [Bo-Katan] being introduced,” he continued. “And she’s a badass and it’s perfect casting. And I am a big Battlestar Galactica fanboy.

“I just think it was perfect that we get to meet and see the character, and she gets to do cool shit in the second season. And then, she gets to take centre stage in the third. It’s what I would want for the character and as a fan of The Clone Wars.”

Pascal’s comments come after many fans noticed (and some complained about) his character taking somewhat of a side-step in The Mandalorian Season 3 to allow Bo-Katan to take a bigger role in the story.

Executive producer Rick Famuyiwa also confirmed to IGN in April that Din Djarin is no longer considered the sole titular Mandalorian within Disney. “I think now with Bo possessing the Darksaber, I know that there was a lot of expectations that might have shifted both in terms of what it meant for Din Djarin, but also for Bo and what does it mean?,” he asked.

“Who is the Mandalorian at this point? And so I think it could be anyone. And I think that’s what they’re trying to define in many ways, is what does that mean to be Mandalorian?”

Especially with how The Mandalorian Season 3 ended, fans might need to get used to Bo-Katan taking even more of a central role, though only time will tell exactly how Filoni’s story will play out.

Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He’ll talk about The Witcher all day.
