Three-time Tony Award winner Patti LuPone is joining the MCU for Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
The actress recently sat down with The Hollywood Reporter, where she discussed her upcoming role in the WandaVision spinoff, and gave an insight into what fans can expect.
In the series, LuPone will be playing a 450-year-old Sicilian witch. According to the actress, her character is part of a coven led by Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) and her power will be divination.
Singing Witches
While LuPone’s inclusion in the Coven of Chaos has previously been reported, the actress revealed that the witches in the show will sing.
“Our lead singer is Kathryn. I’m singing backup, and the songs have been written by Kristen and Bobby Lopez.”
Songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Bobby Lopez are perhaps best known for their work on Frozen, Frozen II, and Coco. The duo penned the mega-hits “Let it Go” and “Remember Me.”
The duo also wrote and produced music for WandaVision, including “Agatha All Along.”
“This Show Is Craft”
When asked what it was like to sing backup, LaPone talked about the fun of being on the show and its lack of CGI.
“Listen, I don’t harmonize. I’ve always been a soprano. I’ve always been on the top line. But it’s just been great fun. There’s no CGI either. What I am seeing on this show is craft.”
While there has still been no release date set for Agatha: Coven of Chaos, the show is expected to debut sometime in late 2023 or early 2024.
