Expect these to repeat at events like the Film Independent Spirit Awards, who announce their nominees on December 5.
In this week’s episode of “Screen Talk,” Anne and Ryan recap the week that was, celebrating unexpected winners like Franz Rogowski, Best Actor for “Passages,” from the New York Film Critics Circle, who voted and named their honorees on Thursday, November 30. “Maestro” and “Poor Things” were no-shows among New York critics, and while they do set the tone ahead for what contenders get pushed, don’t count these out in the months ahead.
In this episode, we also share fiercely divided reactions to “Wonka,” whose embargo has lifted after screening for critics and voters over the last couple of weeks.
