The Batman was a big hit when it came out in theaters in 2022. People loved writer-director Matt Reeves’ noir take on the classic superhero and appreciated Robert Pattinson’s version of Bruce Wayne, who is just a couple of years into his career as a Gotham City crime fighter.
Unfortunately, the sequel has been beset by multiple delays. Filming finally started this past June, and Reeves placated fans by releasing some test footage of Robert Pattinson, fully decked out in his bat-suit, dramatically turning to glare at the camera in the rain. After that, we got some on-set footage of Bruce Wayne riding on a motorcycle, apparently trying to stay inconspicuous as he does some detective work, plus a potential glimpse of new cast member Charles Dance.
Now, a new video released by luluowl_ on TikTok shows the Batmobile pulling into a garage in Glasgow, Scotland. As in the first film, Glasgow is one of several cities that will stand in for Gotham City in The Batman: Part II.
The Batmobile has gone through many iterations over the decades, from the slick, noodle-like design of Tim Burton’s Batman movies to the tank-like Tumbler in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. In The Batman, the Batmobile looked a little more like an ordinary car, closer to the designs used in early onscreen depictions of Batman in the 1940s or the more souped-up Batmobile from the 1960s Batman TV show starring Adam West, albeit less campy. It resembled a classic muscle car, something billionaire Bruce Wayne worked on in secret in his garage. It doesn’t look like much has changed for The Batman: Part II.
As for what Bruce Wayne will use the Batmobile for, we’ll have to wait a while to find out. The Batman: Part II will feature the returns of important supporting players like Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. Colin Farrell will also return as Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, one of Batman’s enemies. Charles Dance is one of the new cast members; he’ll play Christopher Dent, father to Harvey Dent, who goes on to become the Batman villain Two-Face. For a while, we assumed that Sebastian Stan would be playing Harvey, although other reports indicate he could be playing the sadistic serial killer Victor Zsasz. Scarlett Johansson is rumored to be playing Harvey’s wife Gilda Dent.
Assuming the movie isn’t hit with another delay, The Batman: Part II will be in theaters on February 18, 2028.
