New Daredevil Series Heading to Disney+

A new Daredevil series is coming to Disney+ with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio set to reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively.

The 18-episode series, Daredevil: Born Again, is expected to premiere in the spring of 2024.

In 2015, the original Daredevil series made its Netflix debut, beginning a string of mature superhero shows that included Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Following that, the four heroes joined forces for The Defenders miniseries crossover. The series aired for three seasons on Netflix before it was canceled. All of the Marvel series were removed from Netflix on March 1 after Disney regained its license. They began streaming on Disney+ on March 16.

D’Onofrio’s Kingpin previously debuted on Disney’s streaming service with a part on Hawkeye.

In addition, Cox will voice Matt Murdock (also known as Daredevil) in the upcoming animated Spider-Man: Freshman Year on Disney+.

In the first season, Matt Murdock, a lawyer by day, uses his enhanced senses from being blinded as a child to battle crime at night on the streets of Hell’s Kitchen in New York City, while also uncovering a plot of the criminal underworld being led by Wilson Fisk. In the second season, Murdock juggles his life as a lawyer and Daredevil while running across Frank Castle/Punisher, a vigilante with deadlier techniques, and Elektra Natchios, a former flame who has returned. After Fisk is released from prison in the third season, Murdock, who has been absent for months following the events of The Defenders, reappears as a broken man and must choose between living in hiding as a criminal defense attorney or embracing his life as a vigilante hero.
