NetEase Games has announced that it will reveal a new game for consoles and PC at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.
The publisher will be attending Tokyo Game Show for the first time this year, and will be showing 12 previously announced games at the show.
However, it will also be showing a “completely new game”, which it will be revealing at a presentation at the NetEase booth on the show floor.
While it hasn’t provided any more information on the game, NetEase did share a blurred image from it. Although it’s difficult to make out, the image appears to show a white rabbit standing next to a mech vehicle.
In recent years, NetEase has built a roster of Japanese studios, including Grasshopper Manufacture and the new studio from Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi.
It also opened studios with seasoned Capcom developers Ryosuke Yoshida, Jean-Christophe Moine Maeda and Takeshi Yamazaki. Hiroyuki Kobayashi, a 27-year Capcom veteran who was a programmer on the first two Resident Evil games and went on to produce Resident Evil 4, opened his own NetEase-backed company last year.
And this year, NetEase set up Studio Flare, with former Marvelous board member Toshinori Aoki and Blazblue series producer Toshimichi Mori taking the reins, then in May it launched Pincool, a new studio led by Dragon Quest 8 and 9 producer Ryutaro Ichimura.
As well as the new game, NetEase will also be showing 12 other titles at the Tokyo Game Show, all of which have previously been announced.
These include the first three titles in Quantic Dream‘s indie label Spotlight – Lysfanga: The Time Shift Warrior, Dustborn and the recently released Under the Waves.
This year’s Tokyo Game Show will be held for four days from Thursday, September 21 to Sunday, September 24, and will be accompanied by a series of online streams and presentations (though none of these will be hosted by NetEase).
