South African reality TV star Musa Mseleku has expressed gratitude to fans following the season nine finale of “Uthando Nes’thembu”.
The popular reality series aired its final episode for the season on Thursday, May 14, leaving many viewers questioning whether the show will return for a tenth season.
Taking to social media after the finale, Mseleku shared a heartfelt video message thanking supporters for standing by his family throughout the season.
“Mzansi, thank you so much. As the Mseleku family, we would like to express our gratitude. From the one who guides us, to MaCele, to MaYeni, to MaKhumalo, to MaNgwabe, and the one I cannot mention because we still have some issues.
“What I’m most grateful for is your continued support and the work that you have done. We are grateful,” he said.
The long-running reality TV show follows the daily lives, challenges and relationships within the Mseleku household as Mseleku continues to advocate for polygamy while pursuing his ambition of having 20 children.
Season 9 drama kept viewers talking
Season nine proved to be one of the show’s most emotional and controversial instalments yet.
Tensions escalated within the family after Mseleku revealed plans to marry a fifth wife, Makhwela.
The decision reportedly created friction between Mseleku and three of his wives – MaYeni, MaKhumalo and MaNgwabe – while his first wife, MaCele, publicly supported him.
The season sparked widespread debate on social media, with viewers divided over Mseleku’s handling of family matters and the growing tension within the household.
Reacting to his appreciation video, fans shared mixed reactions online.
@hlubi112 wrote: “Thanx for the production. Syabonga, please come back with season 10 upwards. I enjoy the show, all the way from North West.”
Another user, @ro_kg2, praised Mseleku’s patience, saying: “A very patient man, Mr Mseleku. I wish the wives can appreciate you more, and of course, you are not perfect, you are human, but for me, overall, you are not a bad man.”
Meanwhile, @firecracker_jameel questioned whether another season was already in production, asking: “Are you guys recording season 10?”
Some viewers admitted the latest season was difficult to watch.
User @loatiletsoai described the season as “heartbreaking”, citing the visible tension and communication breakdown within the family.
“I regret watching this season; it was heartbreaking; all for content. Heal your family, Musa, please,” the comment read in part.
Mseleku defends MaCele amid criticism
Following backlash aimed at his first wife, MaCele, for supporting his decision to pursue another marriage, Mseleku also posted a tribute to her on Instagram.
Sharing a photograph of the pair embracing, he defended their relationship and praised her loyalty.
“It’s up to you to decide whether there is unconditional love or not because Imbiza kaBhayela iphehlwa abafazi,” he wrote.
The phrase loosely suggests that women are the strength behind maintaining harmony and stability within the household.
Neither Mzansi Magic nor Mseleku has officially confirmed whether ‘Uthando Nes’thembu’ will return for season 10.
