To say that Mortal Kombat 1 on Nintendo Switch is a terrible version of the game would be an understatement, especially considering the game asks players for $70 of their hard-earned money. Unfortunately, the visual fidelity of Mortal Kombat 1 leaves much to be desired, as the game had to make a lot of compromises just to be playable on the Switch. Players have been reporting wild graphical issues, ugly graphics, and a whole lot more.
The Horrible Graphics in Mortal Kombat 1
X user Synth Potato, one of the various fighting game fans who have access to the game since September 14, has compiled a bunch of screenshots that showcase the awful visual differences between the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 and the current-gen version of the game.
Some users have pointed out the thousand-yard stares that the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 has, but others, like Johniibo, have made comprehensive videos explaining and exposing just how terrible this version of the game looks. The video creator stated, “I knew it wasn’t going to be the same experience, but they are charging the same amount [as the Xbox Series and PS5 versions].” Of course, when it comes to the outrageous price of admission for the Switch version, it stops being funny and starts to become frustrating for Switch owners.
Unfortunately, this game’s issues don’t end with the awful graphical issues. From awful texture mesh problems to Fatalities not displaying properly to even having issues with characters not being able to walk correctly, the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 is reportedly the worst version of them all.
According to ElAnalistadeBits, the Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t really run that great. The game runs between 640p and 720 docked and as low as 480p in handheld mode. Although the game targets 60FPS, it often has stuttering issues when more than 2 fighters are on screen. As such, the sacrifices made regarding the graphics for the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 are arguably not worth taking.
Mortal Kombat 1 is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for users who bought the Premium version. The game will be available for everyone else on September 19.
