Miranda Lambert Sets May 15 Release Date for New Single ‘Crisco’

Miranda Lambert announced a new single on Instagram Tuesday, dropping a rhinestone-tinged tease that has country fans already circling May 15 on their calendars.

The reveal was brief. Lambert’s caption read: “It’s a rhinestone world we’re livin’ in… ‘Crisco’ 🤠🪩 Out May 15.” A cowboy hat emoji sat next to a disco ball. No audio snippet, no cover art. Just a title and a date.

The post pulled in over 11,800 likes on Instagram, a strong early response for a single announcement with no audio attached.

The title alone is doing a lot of work. Crisco is a cooking-oil brand that has been a staple in American kitchens for more than a century. In the South especially, it carries a specific cultural weight. Think Sunday biscuits, church potlucks, and cast-iron skillets passed down through generations. Naming a song after it is a clear nod to working-class Southern life, the kind of detail Lambert has built her entire career around.

That cowboy hat and disco ball combo in the caption is pointing somewhere interesting. The pairing hints at a country-disco crossover, or at minimum a heavier glam streak. Lambert has never been shy about rhinestones. But the disco ball emoji next to a Crisco title is an unexpected mix. Flashy and homespun at once.

Lambert is a multiple Grammy winner and longtime fixture of Nashville’s mainstream. She broke through with her 2005 debut album “Kerosene,” a raw country record that earned her immediate critical respect. She hasn’t slowed down since. Her 2019 album “Wildcard” produced the hit “Bluebird.” The track became one of her most streamed songs to date.

She’s also a founding member of the country trio Pistol Annies, alongside Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The group has released three studio albums and keeps a devoted following.

“Crisco” appears to be a solo release. Lambert offered no collaborator credits in the announcement post, and no additional details have surfaced from her label or management as of Tuesday.

May 15 falls on a Friday, the standard new-music release day across the industry. That puts “Crisco” on a proper commercial single timeline, not a surprise drop. The ten-day runway is short. It suggests the track is already finished and cleared rather than still sitting in production.

Whether “Crisco” fits into a larger album campaign or lands as a standalone single isn’t clear yet. Lambert has done both in recent years. Her last solo studio album, “Palomino,” came out in 2022 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Country Album.

The 11,800-plus likes on a text-only post without any preview audio speaks to Lambert’s consistent pull. Her fan base has followed her through acoustic ballads, outlaw anthems, and everything in between. A title and two emojis are clearly enough to get them moving.

With the release ten days out, Lambert isn’t giving much away. A rhinestone world, a disco ball, and a title that smells like Sunday biscuits. That’s the whole pitch for now. May 15 can’t come fast enough.
