The proshot of the 2024 Broadway revival of Merrily We Roll Along has finally made its way to Netflix after a late 2025 theatrical run. The musical, which originally played on Broadway in 1981, was prolific composer Stephen Sondheim’s most infamous flop — the original production closed after just 16 performances. Director Maria Friedman breathed new life into Merrily and the result is this Tony-winning production starring Jonathan Groff, Daniel Radcliffe and Lindsay Mendez as the story’s core trio. It uses a unique structure to chart the friendship between a composer and two writers devolving over 20 years, opening on the night where everything falls apart, and ending 20 years earlier, on the night Frank (Groff) and Charley (Radcliffe) meet Mary (Mendez) and begin chasing their creative dreams.
