Meghan Markle has returned to her Hollywood roots by signing with a talent agency that represents some of the world’s biggest stars.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, who worked as an actress before marrying Prince Harry, will be represented by global talent agency WME, which counts her close friend Serena Williams among its A-list clients. Tilda Swinton, Sir Patrick Stewart, and Helena Bonham Carter are also on the books.
“Film and television production, brand partnerships, and overall business-building will be explored,” reveals Variety, which first broke the news of the signing. There is disappointment, however, for fans of Suits, the US legal drama in which Meghan was given her break. “Acting will not be an area of focus,” the report adds.
The signing reportedly marks the culmination of a years-long process that saw leading global talent agencies court the Duchess of Sussex who, arguably, is one of the most famous women in the world. WME will also represent Archewell, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s content creation label which was behind their Netflix docu-series Harry & Meghan and the duchess’s podcast, Archetypes. The Duchess of Sussex’s WME team will reportedly include super agent Ari Emanuel, who was famously fictionalized in HBO hit series Entourage.
It comes weeks after it was reported that Meghan Markle is set to revive her defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, which she was forced to close when she married into the Royal Family. The New York Post cited a document filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office, seen by the daily newspaper. It reportedly indicates that a prospective relaunched version of the website could encompass articles and interviews on “food, cooking, recipes, travel, relationships, fashion, style, interior design, lifestyle, the arts, culture, design, conscious living, health and wellness.”
