Meet ‘Love Island USA’ Season 8 winners Bryce Alakai and Trinity Tatum

Meet 'Love Island USA' Season 8 winners Bryce Alakai and Trinity Tatum

After weeks of dramatic recouplings, Casa Amor heartbreaks, surprise bombshells and viral moments, “Love Island USA” Season 8 has officially crowned its winning couple.

Bryce Alakai and Trinity Tatum walked away with the title after receiving the most votes from the public during the finale of the Peacock reality show on Sunday, July 12. The pair also took home the $100,000 (about R1.8 million) cash prize, which they chose to split.

The couple beat fellow finalists:

  • Carl Schmidt and Aniya Harvey (second place)
  • Sincere Rhea and Melanie Moreno (third place)
  • Zach Georgiou and Kayda Bosse (fourth place).

“I didn’t think it was going to be us. Honestly, I was expecting other people,” said Trinity. Bryce added, “You just never know, I feel like. It was like… I don’t know, I was like super shocked.”

The couple already have a date planned to go surfing together in Los Angeles and reflected on their relationship’s growth.

“Honestly, I feel like he’s kind of been himself the whole time. He’s been very vulnerable and opening up to me, and it’s just very like special because I feel like for someone to open up to you, I cherish that,” said Trinity.

Unlike many couples whose relationships were tested by bombshell arrivals and the infamous Casa Amor twist, Bryce and Trinity remained one of the villa’s strongest pairings from the beginning of the competition.

Their emotional declarations of love in the final episodes helped cement them as fan favourites, with viewers praising their chemistry and steady relationship throughout the season.

When host Ariana Madix announced their victory, the pair celebrated with tears, hugs and fireworks as they reflected on finding love in one of reality TV’s most unpredictable dating shows.

Although the show is filmed thousands of kilometres away in Fiji, “Love Island USA” has built a loyal South African following thanks to social media.

Fans won’t have to wait long for more villa drama. Peacock has already confirmed a Season 8 reunion special, where the Islanders are expected to reunite and reveal whether their relationships have survived life outside the villa. The reunion is scheduled to air on August 31, with Ariana Madix joined by Andy Cohen as co-host.

Whether Bryce and Trinity can avoid the so-called “Love Island curse” remains to be seen, but for now they leave the villa as America’s newest reality TV sweethearts—and with nearly R2 million to start their next chapter together.
